I had to get in on this – one of my favourite 80s tunes with a typically quirky 80s video that you can laugh at.
It’s that time again for one of my favourite events of the year – the world’s largest wakeboard festival, the Wakestock World Series! This weekend long festival takes place July 24-27. The 2008 band lineup has been finally released, and as of right now includes:

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY
DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN
THROWDOWN
AGE OF DAZE
KATLEEN TURNER OVERDRIVE
FAREWELL TO FREEWAY
DEAD AND DIVINE
Saturday July 26
GZA & RZA of WU-TANG CLAN
HOT WATER MUSIC
SILVERSTEIN
CLASSIFIED
REBEL EMERGENCY + More TBA
Sunday July 27
METRIC
WE ARE SCIENTISTS
DRAGONETTE
LIGHTS
CRASH PARALLEL
SHAWN HEWITT + More TBA
Included with the live music of these bands is the wake boarding talent of the world in the WWA World Series competition, the Billabong pro railslide competition, the oakley launch pool, pro skate demos as well as the Island of the Ams contest, discounted merch tables, pro freestyle moto-x, and the famous bud light bikini contest. There are also several after-parties thrown in the heart of downtown Toronto. The early bird cost of a weekend pass costs $49.50. After June 22nd however the cost rises, with each individual day costing similiar to the original early bird cost of the entire weekend.
Earlier in May of this year, the band Filter released their fourth album – “Anthems for the Damned”. I believe it to be quite a solid release. The content focuses largely on issues surrounding the state of the world today, with a strong anti-war message (as depicted by the first single, Soldiers of Misfortune). There are a number of hard hitting tracks (eg. In Dreams, The Take, and the powerful What’s Next) mixed in with some softer more emotional tunes (eg. Lie After Lie, Only You) and their more typical industrial pop songs (eg. Kill the Day) similar to Take A Picture, from their “Title of Record” release. Below I’ve included the video for Soldiers of Misfortune.
Fun facts about Filter:
Fun fact number one – their bassist will no longer be with them as he is part of the US army reserve, and is shipping off to serve in Iraq
Fun fact number two – frontman Richard Patrick is brother to Robert Patrick, the actor that played the role of the T-1000 in Terminator 2, among many other movie and tv roles
Fun fact number three – Richard Patrick was a touring guitarist for Nine Inch Nails in their early career
Bullet for my Valentine is releasing their new album, “Scream, Aim, Fire” next week. Here is one of the best tracks from it called “Forever and Always”. Hope you like it.
DANE COOK – one of the funniest guys ever!!!
JESSICA ALBA – one of the most attractive girls ever!!! Together, how could you go wrong???
