Playoffs – Semi-Finals: Old Velvet 15, Blazers 9

It was a very close game in the first two periods, but in the third we had a little more gas left in our tank and we took care of things.

I’m pretty sure that next week we’ll be playing our favourite team, Balls Deep for 5th place but we’ll have to wait a few more days to find out.  Either way, pizza party!

Were taking on the Blazers this Sunday at 12:30. Bottom 4 teams that lost last week must  be battling for the consolation prize.

We tried, but in the end, Ice Cold danced around us as we just ran out of gas.

Next week we’ll try to advance to the 5th place game and we’ll also welcome back Tom.

And, if anyone cares, the Nighthawks site should be good to go by this Friday.

Week 13: Old Velvet 14, Blazers 3

A solid game from everyone today.  This win should move us up to 5th place as the two teams ahead of us were playing each other.

Next week we finish up the regular season with a long awaited contest against the defending champs Balls Deep.  We will be without Tom for this one so let’s get a big win! It’s a late game as we play them at 4:30 pm in the Forum.

Week 12: The Goombas 8, Old Velvet 5

It was a tough loss today by the hands of the first place Goombas.

We battled back from being down by three to close the gap to one goal but we couldn’t get any further as we lost the game 8-5.  Boy did Adam ever smell today!

We go from playing the best to the worst as we take on the last place Blazers next Sunday at an early start time of 11:30 am in the Gardens.

Week 11: Raw Hot Dogs 13, Old Velvet 12 (OT)

Well we were short handed again with us missing an entire line this time around (3 peeps) and fell short in OT.  The first period was a bit of feeling each other out with it closing out tied 3-3. A goal late in the 1st and 4 quick ones to start the 2nd and all off a sudden we were down 7-3, but we battled back to a 9-8 lead at the end of the 2nd. We came out strong in the 3rd to go up 12-10 but our legs were just not there and they climbed back to tie it and and then win it with 15 seconds left in OT due to Vance’s turnover :( .  Still a great effort considering we only had 2 lines,and Mark took a  shot in the cheek on his first shift and kept in there, GJ! All things considered it was pretty amazing we scored only 12 goals cause of all the diving, acrobatic saves their goalie made, He was by far the 1st star on the game IMO.

Next week we take on the Goombas at 1:30 in the Gardens… Full team?

Week 10: Old Velvet 11, Hung Over 5

It was yet another close one in the first two periods, but we took control of the game in the third as we out-scored Hung Over 4-0 to lead us to our fifth straight win!

Next week we look to edge closer to first place as we take on the Raw Hot Dogs at 2:30 in the Forum.

nighthawksI’m bringing the Nighthawks back!  We’ll start up again once our Mainway season is over, whether we play on Sundays, Tuesdays or any other day of the week.  I just need a new website address.  I’m able to get a free domain, however it cannot be a .ca address.  So, does anyone have any ideas?
